A Shawbrook Dance Residency offers:
24 hour studio access for the duration of your residency
Onsite self-catering accommodation - accommodation for maximum 4x artists in the Spring term with fully equipped shared kitchen
Our studios and facilities are isolated, and allow you / a company to work in total isolation
Outdoor Forest Stage area / performance area.
There will be opportunities to present works in progress in front of a small local audience
150,000 Trees! A beautiful mature forest of oak, ash & beech trees ready for you to explore, dance, climb, run, walk, breath or just scream!
WiFi is available. Phone reception is very limited.
Creative Space for Dance Artists
This is a Two week self-funded* self catering residency.
We are offering artists a space to research, develop and experiment with new work or bring an existing piece up to touring/performance level. You will have an opportunity to share it informally to a small local audience on the last Thursday evening before departure.
This residency would suit anyone from emerging beginners to well-established dancers/companies, either solo or max 4 people. You will have exclusive 24hr access to all our facilities.
Our Setting - This residency will give you time to reflect, create, get the artistic juices flowing, write, think, dance, move, run through the 70 acres of forest and fields, breath the fresh air, meditate in the tree room and feel free from city restraints. This is a fully immersive experience.
Additional Opportunity - During the residency, we encourage artists to host an open sharing on the last Thursday of your stay to a local audience. This provides an additional development opportunity, a chance to broaden your network and share your story.
Our ask of you - After your residency, we would like all participants to submit a piece of digital content that showcases your time at Shawbrook. We will use this on our social media platforms and website to showcase your residency with us.
