INFORMATION ON INDA:
Participation in the Dance Awards has proven to be a very worthwhile experience for dance students that have taken part over the past few years. We are conscious of the fact that it is difficult for teachers to find the time to prepare an entry for INDA in addition to annual exams. However, teachers consider it a valuable experience.
"For the teacher, although there is extra work involved in preparing extra dance pieces, it is always worth the effort when competition day comes. It is always interesting for me to see how my students perform on the day. Unlike an examination where the teacher is excluded, here is an opportunity for the teacher to see how her students perform under pressure, and compare her opinion of how they did with the judge's report." Phyllis Hayes, Principal, Corrib Dance Academy
It is possible for students who are preparing a dance piece for their jazz exams, shows or auditions, to use that piece for their entry. Several students have indicated to us that entering for these awards has proven most helpful in preparing for vocational exams and auditions for third level education.
